Privacy Policy

Last updated September 9, 2026 · Early-access draft, not yet reviewed by counsel — treat this as a good-faith placeholder while nibnow is in active development, not a finished legal document.

What we collect

If you create an account: your name, email address, and a hashed (never plaintext) password, or your Google account's name/email if you sign in with Google. If you don't create an account, your reading preferences (language, region, sectors, text size, voice speed, saved articles) are stored only in your browser's local storage and never reach our servers.

How we use it

To sign you in, remember your preferences, and — for features that call an AI provider (article summaries, Ask AI, translations, quiz generation, voice narration) — send the specific article text and your question/request to that provider to generate a response. We don't sell your data.

Third parties we rely on

Authentication: Google OAuth, when you choose Google sign-in. AI processing: one or more of Google Gemini, Groq, and OpenRouter's model providers, depending on availability — article text and your questions are sent to whichever is handling the request. Hosting/database: Vercel and Neon. We don't control these providers' own data practices beyond what we send them; consult their policies for details on how they handle data in transit through their APIs.

Cookies and local storage

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in, and browser local storage for guest-mode preferences (see above). We don't currently use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

Your rights

You can request deletion of your account and associated data, or export of what we hold on you, by reaching out through the app's support channel once one is published. Guest-mode data can be cleared at any time by clearing your browser's site data for nibnow.

Children

nibnow isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy as the product develops. Material changes will update the date above.
